“Music is my art and teaching is my passion.”

As a Musician

One of my main passions and research interests is supporting new music for the trombone. As of May 2021, I have commissioned nearly 50 new works for trombone solo and/or ensemble. Additionally, I have performed as soloist at the American Trombone Workshop with the U.S. Army Pershing’s Own Orchestra, in recital at the International Trombone Festival, and much more.

As an Educator

My desire as a teacher is to work myself out of a job by encouraging my students to become their own best teachers.  With this in mind, I focus on a methodical and goal-oriented approach with each student. This includes not only developing short and long-term goals with the student, but also helping to provide the tools for success as they strive for improvement in the practice room and the real world.  All of these methodologies and approaches are under the umbrella of creating a safe, yet challenging, environment in the trombone studio that motivates and champions each student to become better from year to year, while welcoming new students and celebrating our alumni.

As a Person

I love my family, my dogs, my church and everything that encompasses being a supportive husband, loving father, and Christ follower. My guilty pleasure is all things Star Trek. Live long and prosper!
